Use a heating pad or hot pad before you stretch or if you have a muscle spasm. We recommend that after an acute injury you should use ice for 48 hours to help control pain and spasms while minimizing the total damage of the injury by lowering the metabolic needs of the healthy tissue surrounding the injury site.
Most therapy treatments are covered by health insurance. We will assist you in determining the amount of your insurance coverage as well as the frequency of treatments.
Pivot Physical Therapy takes most major insurance providers. Please visit our insurance page for a listing of all of the associated insurance companies by area/state. At Pivot Physical Therapy, we treat a variety of injuries. In fact, the majority of injuries are non-sports related; they may be post-surgical, work-related or as a result of an accident. Our therapists are trained to meet all of your needs.
Your first appointment will last approximately one hour. Your therapist will complete a comprehensive evaluation which includes: medical history review, diagnostic testing, thorough evaluation of your flexibility, strength and endurance, your current functional deficits and your goals with therapy. At the conclusion of your appointment, your therapist will explain your personalized treatment plan and answer any questions you may have. Your participation and commitment are required to achieve the best outcomes.
Please remember to bring with you your doctor’s prescription (if you have one), your insurance card, a photo I.D., a change of comfortable clothing (or come dressed in comfy clothing), and completed paperwork. Upon discharge, you will be given a home exercise program to further enhance your rehabilitation outcome and prevent the possibility of future re-injury. You also have the option to participate in our Wellness Program.
