Summer Travel Tips

Summer is almost here and that means many of you will be traveling! No matter if you’re driving or flying, these tips will help prevent pain and injury. We want you to have a safe and healthy vacation!

Carrying & Lifting Luggage
Use a wheeled suitcase or bag. To lift your luggage, bend at your knees, brace
your core, and use your legs to stand. Carry your bag close to your body and try
not to twist while carrying your luggage.

Driving Posture
Make sure your seat is at the right height – your eye level should be at least
three inches above the steering wheel. Support your back by sliding your
tailbone as close to the seat back as possible. There should be a two-finger gap
between the backs of your knees and the seat. Set your headrest between the
top of your ears and the top of your head.

Take Breaks
Whether you are flying or driving, take a break to stand up, stretch your legs, and
move around. Try to schedule your breaks every two hours.

If you are a current patient and traveling within the Pivot footprint, you have the option to continue your care on vacation. You also have the option to continue your therapy through telehealth. Ask your therapist for more information.
