Pivot Physical Therapy Opens New Clinic in Washington, D.C.

TOWSON, MARYLAND (AUGUST 25, 2014): Pivot Physical Therapy, a leading provider of physical therapy, aquatic therapy, and sports medicine services, has opened its newest clinic in the Wesley Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C.  Located minutes from the campus of American University in Foxhall Square, one of Washington, D.C.’s premier medical centers, the new clinic joins four locations in the District and a network of more than 60 Pivot Physical Therapy clinics throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

“Joining this historic neighborhood is a terrific opportunity for Pivot as we continue to expand our footprint in D.C.,” said Greg Smith, MS, ATC, founder of Pivot Physical Therapy and head athletic trainer of the Washington Capitals hockey team.  ”Our clinicians provide world-class physical therapy care for a variety of conditions, including general orthopedics, sports medicine, pre- and post-operative care, total joint rehab and running analysis. Our goal is to return our patients to their healthy, active lifestyles as quickly as possible.”

Michael Stidham, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, ATC has been named clinic director for the new location.  He has been with Pivot Physical Therapy for more than five years, most recently serving as clinic director at the McPherson Square location. As a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist and certified athletic trainer, he has advanced clinical competency in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders and the management of sports injuries. He is also a credentialed clinical instructor and a member of the Sports Physical Therapy Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.

In addition to its physical therapy clinics, Pivot Physical Therapy provides athletic training and sports medicine services to more than 40 scholastic and collegiate athletic departments throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Services include year-round, game day coverage, comprehensive concussion management programs and injury screens. The certified athletic trainers also teach courses to high school coaches on the care and prevention of athletic injuries.
