Pivot Co-Founder to Serve as NHL All-Star Trainer

Washington Capitals Trainer Greg Smith to Represent Eastern Conference

Los Angeles, CA January 27, 2017: Pivot Physical Therapy Co-Founder and SVP of Strategic Initiatives Greg Smith will serve as the Eastern Conference’s Athletic Trainer in the 2017 NHL All-Star Game to be held this weekend at the Staples Center.

Smith is in his 17th season with Washington and his 21st season in professional hockey as head athletic trainer. The Bowie, MD, native joined the Capitals in 1999 after spending two seasons with the Anaheim Ducks.

Smith acts as a strength and condition consultant with various NHL and NBA athletes. He also served as trainer for Team USA at the 1998 World Hockey Championships and the American Hockey League’s Baltimore Bandits.

Smith received his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Special Education from Salisbury State University. He also holds a Master’s degree in Athletic Training and a Physical Therapy Assistant degree, both from the California University of Pennsylvania.

He has an additional Master’s degree in Sports Science from the International Sports Science Association.
