Healthy Vision Month

May is Healthy Vision Month! It is recommended that people of all ages have regular vision screenings, but older adults and even preschoolers commonly have vision issues. Healthy vision can keep you safe each day and should be a priority like eating healthy and physical activity.

Normal visual perception requires the proper functioning of ocular motor systems that control the position and movement of the eyes to focus on the image of the object-of-interest (i.e., the visual target). Having limited control of the eye muscles and/or lacking coordination of the eye muscles can occur with many neurologic and musculoskeletal pathology and result in symptoms including altered vision, double vision, dizziness, nausea, and eye fatigue.

If you experience any of the above symptoms, we can help! One of our vestibular rehab specialists will perform a thorough evaluation and assess your ocular motor system. Those findings in conjunction with your normal vision exam will allow your therapist to create a personalized plan to reach your goals. Our team will partner with you and your optometrist to provide optimal care for your eye health. Contact us to find a vestibular rehab specialist near you!
