Sara Ruhlman joined Pivot Physical Therapy in December 2017 as the Roanoke-Towers Clinic Director/Roanoke Area Manager and was promoted into the role of Regional Director of the Roanoke and Charlottesville area clinics in February 2022. Sara earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from Russell Sage College in 1994, and obtained her post-professional Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2019. Sara also received a certification in manual trigger point therapy/Dry needling from Myopain Seminars in 2021.
She has worked in a variety of settings and has spent the majority of her career working in the outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine setting. She is skilled in differential diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of a variety of orthopedic conditions and injuries, and specializes in rehabilitation of shoulder injuries and post-operative care. She is very patient-focused and values the time spent listening to her patients and helping them to better understand and manage their symptoms.
Sara is grateful for the opportunity to serve in her community, as a Board Member for the Foundation for Rehab Equipment and Endowment (FREE Foundation) and as a volunteer for several other events and organizations. She has also volunteered as a guest lecturer at the Jefferson College of Health Sciences.
Sara enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, Scott, children Matthew, Zach and Emma, and their beloved Golden Retrievers, Sophie & Bailey, as well as their rescue dog, Lucy. She is a health advocate and avid cyclist, and loves being outdoors, hiking and exploring in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
