Since graduating in 2012 from Widener University with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, Michael Root has been improving the function and lives of patients young and old. Starting his career in the Philadelphia area, Michael made the move to Asheville, NC in 2015 to escape the city life and enjoy the clean mountain air of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Initially with Mountain Physical Therapy Services, Michael continued his passion with Pivot Physical Therapy in 2017.
Michael’s areas of expertise include evaluation and treatment of a variety of orthopedic dysfunction including back and neck pain, tendinopathies of the extremities, sports injuries, return to work/play, post operative rehabilitation, balance dysfunction, and headache/concussion. Michael utilizes a variety of techniques to improve function and reduce pain including Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), trigger point dry needling (TDN), kinesiotaping, as well as being SFMA certified.
In his spare time Michael enjoys hiking, exercising, listening to live music, spending time with his wife Isabel and his dog, Oso.
