Mary Janae G.

Physical Therapist

Mary Janae G. is a physical therapist at the Burlington, NC location of Pivot Physical Therapy. Mary Janae, known as MJ in the clinic, is a 2009 graduate of the Elon University Doctor of Physical Therapy program. She completed her BS in Athletic Training with a Leadership Certificate at Marietta College in Marietta, OH. MJ joined Pivot in August 2022 after spending 12 years working for a small, PT-owned, outpatient clinic in rural PA near her hometown. She has also spent some time doing PRN work in various Skilled Nursing Facilities in PA. Mary Janae enjoys teaching the community about their body as she feels strongly that the more a person understands what is going on inside, the more invested they are in reaching their maximal outcomes. Patient education and manual intervention are the largest portions of MJ’s focus during treatment sessions.

MJ received an advanced certification in vestibular rehabilitation through a course called “Vestibular Rehabilitation: A Competency-Based Course” sponsored by Duke University and the APTA in 2013. Other clinical interests include balance difficulties, knee injuries, hand therapy, splinting for the UE, and casting for orthotics. MJ has done multiple courses through the Institute of Physical Art and was fortunate to be mentored by 2 different Fellows of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists and OCS and SCS Board Certified therapists since the beginning of her career.

Outside of work MJ enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 daughters, 2 guinea pigs, and 1 cat going for walks, playing at arcades, and attending comic-cons. The oldest G. Girls are involved in various community groups so you will often find Mary Janae and her husband carrying their infant daughter at festivals, plays, and parades while cheering on their oldest children.
