Lou Mazakas

Lou Mazakas is the Clinical Director of the Pivot Physical Therapy’s Tuckahoe/Manakin-Sabot location. He is a graduate of Medical College of Virginia, VCU and has been practicing for over 15 years.  He did his undergraduate work at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania studying Athletic Training and Physical Therapy.  Prior to attending physical therapy school, he worked summer sport camps at the University of Richmond , College of William and Mary and at Lehigh University in PA.  There he enjoyed treating a wide variety of orthopedic injuries and conditions including those involved with the shoulder, knee, and ankle.  He has education treating Cervicogenic headaches. Lou treats patients from all age groups and activity levels ranging from the adolescent athlete recovering from injury to the elderly wanting to remain active. Lou strives to make every patient encounter an enjoyable one while engaging the patient as a partner in the treatment rather than a participant.

He joined Pivot Physical Therapy in 2018.  Lou has a Direct Access Certification through the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy allowing him to evaluate and treat patients without a physician prescription.

When not in the clinic, Lou enjoys family life with his three children and wife going on hikes, working in his yard, and traveling.
