Kyle Bailey

PT, DPT, CMTPT, FMSC

Physical Therapist

Combining a desire to work with people with his love of sports, Kyle Bailey enjoys using physical therapy to improve the lives of others.

“I always knew I wanted to help people,” said Kyle. “I wanted to work with people who were active and focus on making their lives more functional.”

Kyle spent most of his childhood in Lawrenceville, GA before moving to the Mechanicsville area of Virginia where he attended high school. He played sports of all his life and while he fortunately never sustained an injury, he saw others get hurt and witnessed the power rehabilitation could provide in getting them back on their fields and courts of play.

Kyle’s interest in physical therapy grew while pursuing his undergraduate degree in Health Sciences at James Madison University, where he graduated in 2008. Kyle went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University.

Kyle joined Tidewater Physical Therapy in 2012.  In 2017, Tidewater Physical Therapy rebranded to Pivot Physical Therapy.  He is currently a senior physical therapist in the Powhatan, VA clinic.

“There is a lot of emphasis on what we do as far as the physical aspect, but what I’ve learned is to spend more time on the subjective aspect of the treatment,” said Kyle. “I try to focus on the patient’s goals and listen to their concerns.”

He also works to make each patient comfortable in their treatment and help them understand more about why certain exercises are prescribed and how manual therapy helps.

“In physical therapy, you have to come back routinely and no one wants to come back where they don’t feel a connection or a good relationship,” said Kyle. “If you develop a positive relationship with the patient the rest will figure itself out.”

Kyle holds certifications in conducting the Functional Movement Screen (FMSC) and Dry Needling (CMTPT).

Kyle also holds a Direct Access Certification through the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy allowing them to evaluate and treat patients without a prescription. As part of a healthcare team, a physical therapist will make an assessment of a patient’s condition and create a plan to start on the road to wellness.
