
Karen Kovacs
Karen Kovacs joined Pivot Physical Therapy in 2004. She has been the Clinic Director at the Hayes location since 2007. Karen is certified as a specialist in orthopedics and in working with patients who have chronic pain. She also specializes in working with dizzy patients (vestibular rehab) and those who have experienced a concussion. Her patients play an active role in their recovery in an environment that promotes healing and success. Karen’s interests include injury prevention in sports, work, and daily life and research that addresses challenges faced by aging athletes. Prior to becoming a physical therapist, Karen taught middle school for 11 years.
Karen completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy through Evidence in Motion Institute of Health Professions in 2019. She earned her Master of Physical Therapy at Midwestern University in 2001 and her Bachelor of Arts in Education at Christopher Newport University in 1988.
Karen moved to Gloucester (Hayes), Virginia to be closer to family. She enjoys working with adults in the community training for endurance sports and has done many workshops about how to prepare for a triathlon. Karen likes to hike, ride bikes, and explore the Chesapeake Bay with her husband and Labrador Retriever.
