Physical Therapist, Clinic Director
Emily is the clinic director and a physical therapist at Pivot’s Knightdale location. She has clinical experience in outpatient orthopedics as well as aquatic therapy. She is trained in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) and is FMT RockBlades certified. She became certified in dry needling, a technique utilized to reduce tone and trigger points in muscle tissue, in Spring 2018 through Double E PT Education. She also completed a year-long residency in orthopedics through Nxt Gen Institute of PT in 2017 and became an APTA Orthopedic Board-Certified Clinical Specialist (OCS) in 2018. During the residency, Emily also became Direct Access Certified (DAC) in order to improve screening techniques when treating patients without need for a physician’s referral.
Emily obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at East Carolina University in 2016 and her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Motor Development at the University of South Carolina in 2013. While completing her DPT, Emily served as a Graduate Assistant at the ECU Human Movement Analysis Laboratory where she participated in clinical research and presented her findings on foot mobility’s impact on tibial stress during running at the local and national level.
Emily is a lover of sports and coaches middle and high school-aged girls at a local level for NC Elite Volleyball Club. She also has a special interest in working with athletes, particularly tennis and volleyball players.
