Elena Victoria Byzewski

PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Elena Byzewski was inspired by the healing power of physical therapy at a young age. First, she worked with a Physical Therapist in high school after a neck injury, noting how eager the physical therapy team seemed to come to work each day. Later, in college, one of her professors was confined to a wheelchair after a car accident. Eventually, he walked again through the hard work and dedication of his rehab team. This experience solidified her desire to be a part of other people’s success.

Although she was born in Ontario, Canada, Elena spent most of her life in Herndon, Virginia. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011, then went on to receive her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Lynchburg College in 2014. She joined Pivot Physical Therapy in August 2014.

“My treatment philosophy involves determining the underlying cause of the patient’s impairment,” she explains. “I then develop an individualized program to work towards regaining function.” Elena adds that creating a relaxed, inviting rehabilitation environment is key in helping patients achieve success and return to activities they enjoy.

Eventually, Elena plans to pursue an orthopedic certified specialization. Although she takes a keen interest in each individual case, she particularly enjoys helping patients with balance difficulties and those with upper/lower extremity dysfunction.

When she isn’t in the clinic, Elena focuses on her own fitness, spends considerable time outdoors, at the beach and attending concerts.

“Life is too short to not live it to the fullest,” she says, adding that the body can achieve what the mind believes.
