Physical Therapist Assistant

Before heading off to college, Chanel worked at Williamsburg Physical Therapy as a physical therapy technician.

She watched people come in with injuries and leave better. She saw them achieve their goals to return to more active lives.

“It inspired me to want to be more of a part of their rehab. I wanted to be one of the reasons they were getting better! I wanted to be more involved in their direct care.”

In 2008, Chanel graduated from Tidewater Community College with her Associates Degree in Applied Science. She quickly linked back up with Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Williamsburg Physical Therapy clinic where today she is a physical therapist assistant.

For Chanel, there was never any question on what physical therapy practice to join once she became licensed.  “A better question is why NOT Tidewater? I can’t see myself working anywhere else. I love working with our therapists. We are truly a team. Everyone has something different to offer and wants every patient to succeed…not just their own patients!”

In 2017, Tidewater Physical Therapy was rebranded to Pivot Physical Therapy.

Chanel has achieved her goal: Just take the former NFL player from the 1950s that Chanel helped treat…and still keeps in touch with. “He is in his seventies, with several disabilities, but came in for every appointment with a smile and a goal to do better with each session. You could see the pain in his face with every step, but he refused to give up. He still calls to give me updates and even though has had some more set-backs medically, he keeps telling me, ‘I will be back!’”

Chanel grew up in a military family, but is starting to see Williamsburg as her hometown. If you don’t see her in the clinic, look for her out and about!
