Physical Therapist

Amira’s passion for physical therapy led her to establish Mountain Physical Therapy Services in 1992. She partnered with Pivot Physical Therapy in 2017 and works as a physical therapist in the Asheville clinic. Amira has taken extensive continuing education and specialization training in orthopedic and sports physical therapy; manual therapy and movement analysis and training.

Amira’s main areas of focus are on evaluation and treatment of spinal problems, craniomandibular and temporomandibular dysfunction, movement analysis and retraining, and exercise prescription for osteoporosis, hypermobility and through the aging process. She offers the SFMA functional screening tool and corrective exercise prescription.

She received her physical therapy degree from The Ohio State University in 1982 and her Master’s in Exercise and Sports Sciences in 1987 from Ithaca College. Prior to opening Mountain PT Amira had been involved in teaching in the physical therapy program at Ithaca College and working in various outpatient settings. She has been actively involved in the development of her profession for 30+ years.

Amira enjoys spending time with family and friends, anything outdoors, exercise, cooking and traveling.
