Physical Therapist

Alia has been a physical therapist with Pivot (previously Activcare Physical Therapy) since 2010. She specializes in manual therapy and has her Certification as an Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) under the Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy approach. She has also completed a certificate in vestibular rehabilitation (AIB-VR) from the American Institute of Balance and enjoys building strength and balance skills for fall prevention in the geriatric population. She is a Graston provider and has taken and passed the certification course and exam for Kinesio Taping. Specialty populations include such pathologies as Torticollis in infants under 1 year of age, and Bell’s Palsy/Ramsey Hunt Syndrome.

Alia received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from Davidson College where she played Division I soccer. She graduated from East Carolina University with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2009. Alia worked as a graduate assistant in the Gait & Balance Laboratory and presented her research at the International Society for Gait and Posture Research Conference in Bologna, Italy.

Alia lives in Raleigh with her husband, 2 young boys and 4 chickens.
