Pivot Physical Therapy

Michael Abbas, PTA

Physical Therapist Assistant

Michael began working at Mountain Physical Therapy in June 2009, after graduating from South College of Asheville in their Physical Therapist Assistant program. He is now a PTA at the same location in Asheville under Pivot Physical Therapy. Michael's clinical interests include integrating exercise and movement training into a patient’s plan to maximize levels or recovery; osteoporosis exercise prescription; balance and fall prevention; ergonomic consulting services; back education and spinal stabilization training. Michael is certified in the Functional Movement Screen and offers screening services. He enjoys interacting with his patients, especially with the process of helping them learn effective tools to reduce pain and increase their wellness and function, always with a genuine word of encouragement.

Previously, he has been a licensed massage therapist in North Carolina, and a youth educator. His undergraduate degree in biology from Iowa State University, 1993, has served him well in his new chosen field.

Personally, Michael enjoys family and friends, hiking, camping, playing guitar, and singing with friends.
