Pivot Physical Therapy

Brittanny Matthews Smith

Brittanny Smith, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Brittanny is passionate about making a difference in peoples' lives through providing quality patient care, and is excited to begin her career at Activcare Physical Therapy, now Pivot Physical Therapy.

While completing the physical therapy program at ECU, Brittanny worked as a graduate assistant in the Muscle Physiology laboratory, where she researched the effects of exercise and aging on the Vitamin D receptor located in skeletal muscle cells. Her research ultimately investigated ways physical therapy can further reduce fall risk in the geriatric population. Brittanny helps out with a Sunday school class for people with special needs and has enjoyed seeing how people with disabilities celebrate their abilities and use them to serve others.

Brittanny Smith earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology with a certificate in Spanish from East Carolina University. Brittanny continued as an ECU Pirate and graduated in May of 2012 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
